Gary Gioffredi will represent Grand View University at the the 2015 Midwest College Combine in Medina, Minnesota on December 13, 2015.

Gioffredi has an extensive background in bowling. He began bowling in sanctioned leagues at the age of 5. Gioffredi earned multiple top 5 state awards for singles, doubles and teams before the age of 12 and basically “grew up in the bowling alley” with his family.

Gioffredi, a Grand View alum, came to GV via Des Moines Lincoln High School where he played both football and baseball for the Railsplitters. He was then awarded a Presidential Art Scholarship along with a four-year academic and baseball scholarship to Grand View. Gioffredi played centerfield and pitched for the Vikings and was a member of the 1991 World Series Team.”My education and athletic experience at Grand View University prepared me from the very beginning how to succeed in all aspects of life. The professors and coaches have a deep passion for the students and understand how to prepare graduates with the tools to compete and excel by putting them in a position that is a step above the competition. My vision for the bowling program at Grand View University is to continue and expand these same traditions for the best overall experience for the student athletes,” said Gioffredi.

Following graduating from Grand View, Gioffredi returned to competitive bowling. In that time, he has consistently averaged over 200 and has bowled three sanctioned 300 games. Gioffredi has bowled and placed at the National Bowling Tournament in Reno, Nevada, along with multiple state tournaments.

Gioffredi is also currently employed by The Des Moines Register where he has been for 16 years. He serves as a Creative Supervisor within the Advertising Department. Gioffredi resides in Indianola with his wife of 16 years, Lorna, and their three children John (14), Gage (10), and Grace (6).
